Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has confirmed authorizing the arrest of former Public Procurement Authority (PPA) Board Chairman, Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi.
The former official was apprehended by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) on February 23, 2025, at Kawukudi, Accra, over financial concerns linked to his tenure at the Ghana Infrastructural Investment Fund (GIIF).
His lawyer, Ken Kuranchie, disclosed that security operatives arrived in three pickups and requested his presence at the NIB, where he voluntarily complied.
Speaking on March 3, Dr. Ayine revealed that Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi admitted to a $2 million payment for unexecuted work. Investigations are ongoing to determine those involved in the transaction.
