I proudly exhibited some of my losses – Dame rebuts claims of boasting about legal record

Godfred Yeboah Dame has responded to Thaddeus Sory. He accuses Sory of spreading misinformation and twisting facts. This exchange is part of their ongoing public disagreement.

Dame shared his response on social media. He called Sory’s allegations “mischievous” and politically motivated.

“Clearly, you are wrong,” Dame stated in his response. He described the claims as a series of falsehoods from NDC lawyers.

Sory claimed that Dame boasts about never losing a case in office. Dame argues this narrative is misleading and contradicts his public record.

He cited examples from two Annual Bar Conferences. At these events, he acknowledged cases he lost, showing Ghana's strong judicial system.

During the 2023 Bar Conference in Cape Coast, he said:

“When I look back at certain cases with undesirable outcomes, I conclude we have a fiercely independent Judiciary.” He referenced specific Supreme Court decisions involving the Attorney-General.

At the 2024 Bar Conference in Kumasi, he reiterated the Judiciary's independence. He noted that it was evident even when rulings went against the State.

“I can confidently say that I have been an Attorney-General during which the Judiciary showed complete independence,” he said.

Dame’s response aims to refute any claims of suppressing losses or manipulating justice. He positions himself as a supporter of judicial independence, even when it does not favor the government.
