Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, faced intense scrutiny during his vetting.
The Parliamentary Appointments Committee questioned him for over five hours. Many questions focused on his past controversial statements while in opposition. They did not emphasize his qualifications for the new role.
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin led much of the questioning.
In an interview on Channel One TV on April 14, Sam George said he was prepared. He expected tough questions from the Minority.
“I didn’t take offence; I was ready for it,” he stated. “I knew what to expect and that I would be targeted.”
Despite the challenging session, Sam George felt confident about his performance. He believed he handled the vetting well and acquitted himself creditably.
