I was very worried – Agnes Lartey reveals impact of late swearing-in incident

Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the Minister for Gender and Social Protection, spoke about her late arrival at the 2025 swearing-in ceremony.

In an interview on JoyNews’ Personality Profile, she shared the emotional impact of the controversy.

Dr. Lartey said public scrutiny affected her deeply. She revealed a side of herself that is rarely seen.

“It did break me,” she confessed. She described herself as an introvert who avoids the spotlight.

“I’m very sensitive and don’t seek unnecessary attention,” she added. The incident put her in national focus, which was hard to handle.

“If I said it didn’t affect me, I’d be lying,” she stated. She felt worried, especially about those who knew her.

The Minister struggled with self-doubt after the incident. She questioned what she could have done differently.

“I kept asking myself how to prevent this situation,” she explained. “I don’t like too many excuses.”

She believes that over-explaining can make things more confusing.
