I will contest for the NPP’s National Chairman – Wontumi officially announce

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwo Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi, has announced his candidacy for National Chairmanship.

He stated that he had an encounter with God before making this decision. Wontumi believes that leading the party will help it regain power in 2028.

Speaking on Wontumi TV, he said, “I have spoken to God and pleaded with him.” He expressed confidence in serving the NPP and returning it to power.

Wontumi also addressed recent allegations linking him to illegal mining activities. He firmly denied any involvement in galamsey and claimed he has a legitimate mining license.

During a "Thank You Tour," he criticized the opposition for framing him with false accusations. He insisted that the Lands Minister was lying about his operations.

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, announced plans to revoke Akonta Mining Co. Ltd's lease. In response, Wontumi’s company has sued both the Minister and the Minerals Commission over this decision.
