An old video of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has resurfaced. He is the North Tongu Member of Parliament. In the video, he vowed to resign if an NDC leader used a private jet. This comes after Jane Naana returned to Ghana on a private jet.
While in opposition, Ablakwa criticized President Akufo-Addo for using private jets. He stated, “I will resign from government if our leader uses a private jet.” He emphasized that his stance was based on principle and protecting public funds.
Rev John Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South, has called for Ablakwa's resignation. He reacted to the Vice President’s use of a chartered Vista private jet. Ntim Fordjour said Ablakwa should honor his vow and resign immediately.
In a post on X, he urged Ablakwa to be consistent with his previous statements. He reminded him that he publicly criticized presidential travel by private jets while in opposition.
Ntim Fordjour acknowledged that using private jets is not inherently wrong when necessary. However, he insisted that Ablakwa must demonstrate integrity by resigning as Foreign Affairs Minister now.
