I will return Sammy Gyamfi’s $800 and even double it – Agradaa brags

Evangelist Mama Pat, also known as Nana Agradaa, leads Heaven Way Church. She recently claimed she would return the $800 given to her by Sammy Gyamfi. Gyamfi is the acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board.

A video showed Gyamfi gifting large sums of money to Nana Agradaa. This sparked significant criticism and scrutiny. In response, she went live on Instagram and said, “I will return the $800 and even double it.”

She promised to find Gyamfi’s office and return the money publicly. She wants to show Ghanaians that she is keeping her word.

Nana Agradaa also mentioned jealousy among senior NDC party members. They allegedly want to use this incident to get Gyamfi fired. She stated, “This is my mantle, my Bible, and my anointing oil.”

She emphasized that doing good should not be discriminated against. If Gyamfi gives her money, he has every right to do so.

Sammy Gyamfi later apologized for his actions. He expressed regret over what he called an unfortunate act of indiscretion. He explained that giving money is part of his custom of helping those in need.

Gyami noted he thought his gesture was private and did not expect public backlash. He found it regrettable that it became a public issue.

Meanwhile, the Minority caucus in Parliament demanded action against him from President John Mahama. Dr Kabiru Tia Mahama held a press conference on May 12, 2025.

He called for Sammy Gyamfi's immediate suspension as acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board. Mahama cited violations of the Code of Conduct and other laws.

Dr Mahama insisted that ignorance of the law is no excuse for Gyamfi’s actions. He urged a full investigation into where the dollars came from in the viral video.
