Minister Samuel Nartey George has emphasized the importance of the One Million Coders Programme. He dismissed claims that it is a political gimmick.
He stated that this initiative is part of a national digital transformation strategy. It reflects his commitment to family values, innovation, and sustainable development.
George mentioned his advocacy for family values. He referenced a recent ruling from the UK Supreme Court. He believes it aligns with his views expressed in 2021.
He assured listeners that the coding initiative is serious and well-planned. “This is serious business for me,” he said. “It won’t fail; I won’t fail.”
The minister highlighted partnerships with major tech companies to support the programme. He specifically mentioned C-squared, a Google affiliate, working on high-speed connectivity.
To enhance accessibility, NETA will help expand connectivity to Community Information Centres (CICs). This state-owned agency ensures last-mile connectivity to many CICs.
George confirmed that these locations will have dedicated high-speed internet for training sessions.
In conclusion, he reiterated that this initiative fits into a larger national agenda. The goal is to improve digital skills across the country.
