Political scientist Dr. Richard Amoako Baah is a prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He stated that he would have expelled former President Akufo-Addo from the party if he were chairman.
Dr. Amoako Baah believes Akufo-Addo is responsible for the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections. He noted that many party members know this truth but are afraid to speak out.
“They want to talk about the president, but they can’t,” he said. “He caused the whole defeat. It should be put on his head.”
Dr. Baah criticized Akufo-Addo for becoming unpopular and arrogant. He claimed that the former president even threatened some Members of Parliament.
In an interview with TV3, Dr. Baah alleged that Akufo-Addo still tries to control the party after its defeat. “No president should campaign against their own party members,” he said.
He expressed frustration over how Akufo-Addo has hijacked the party's direction. “After bringing us to this disastrous end, he should have kept quiet,” Dr. Baah added.
He vowed to resist any attempts by Akufo-Addo to influence the NPP’s future decisions. “The party is not his,” he asserted, emphasizing that they will not agree to his control.
Dr. Baah pointed out that public dissatisfaction with Akufo-Addo’s appointees contributed significantly to their electoral loss.
