I would’ve sacked Sammy Gyamfi if I were president – Ken Agyapong

Kennedy Agyapong, a former MP for Assin Central, criticized President John Dramani Mahama. He spoke at the Entrepreneurship and National Leadership event on May 15, 2025. Agyapong disapproved of the President's decision regarding Sammy Gyamfi, the acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board.

He said, "Nepotism and favoritism are killing this country." He referred to recent news involving Nana Agradaa and Gyamfi. Agyapong stated that if he were president, he would have fired Gyamfi immediately. He believed the evidence was clear and did not require further investigation.

Agyapong expressed concern about growing nepotism in public service. He argued that such practices hinder national development. He noted that unqualified individuals often occupy key positions due to nepotism.

He highlighted challenges faced by young graduates seeking jobs. Many must pay to secure good national service placements. Without connections to politicians, they struggle to find proper opportunities.

Agyapong emphasized that these issues impede progress in Ghana. He described nepotism as a serious problem that needs urgent resolution. His comments followed a viral video showing Gyamfi giving money to evangelist Nana Agradaa.

The video raised public concerns about possible violations of laws and ethics for officials.
