The Institute of Economic Research and Public Policy (IERPP) has criticized President John Dramani Mahama. They say he has not fulfilled his promise to conduct audits. These audits are for the National Cathedral project and COVID-19 funds.
During a media event, Professor Isaac, the Executive Director, expressed disappointment. He called this inaction a failure of a key campaign commitment. This commitment was made ahead of the 2024 elections.
“President Mahama promised these audits within his first 120 days in office,” he said. “However, not much has been done so far.”
Professor Isaac stressed that these audits are vital for transparency. They are also important for restoring public trust after past accountability issues.
“When forensic audits stall, the truth is buried,” he stated. “The people deserve answers, not silence.” He urged President Mahama to fulfill his promise regarding the National Cathedral and COVID-19 funds.
He noted that progress on this pledge is currently at “zero.” He called on the President to act quickly to keep his promise. The IERPP believes timely action is essential to prevent public disillusionment and ensure justice regarding financial accountability issues.
