The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has reactivated the Public Relations Units in all ten regional police commands across Ghana. This initiative aims to enhance communication and engagement between the police and the public, ensuring that information is disseminated effectively and promptly. The IGP emphasized the importance of these units in fostering transparency and building trust within communities.
During a recent meeting with regional commanders, Dr. Dampare highlighted that effective public relations are crucial for maintaining peace and security. He urged officers to prioritize community engagement and utilize social media platforms to share updates on police activities, successes, and initiatives. This proactive approach is intended to improve public perception of the police force.
Additionally, the IGP announced plans for training programs aimed at equipping personnel with essential skills in communication and media relations. By strengthening these units, the Ghana Police Service seeks to create a more informed public while enhancing collaboration between law enforcement and citizens for improved safety across the nation.
