The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has established a specialized investigative team to probe election-related deaths from 2020 and 2024, following President John Mahama’s directive.
The Chronicle Newspaper reports that the team, chaired by Chief Superintendent Joseph Nanegbe, comprises experienced officers from the Ghana Police Service.
The IGP assured the President that the team would have all necessary resources to deliver results within set timelines.
The investigation builds on progress made since Dr. Dampare assumed office in 2021, including efforts by the Cold Case Unit at the CID headquarters, which has advanced investigations into the 2020 election-related incidents. Several suspects are already facing prosecution.
This initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to addressing unresolved cases and ensuring justice for affected families.
