IMANI Africa’s Franklin Cudjoe questions sim card re-registration

Franklin Cudjoe from Imani Africa has questioned the upcoming SIM card re-registration. He believes there are more pressing issues in the country. According to him, SIM card registration should not be a priority.

Cudjoe expressed his views on social media. He stated that as a civil society organization, they will seek answers from the minister.

He asked, “What for? Does the Minister want to register phones too? Don’t we have bigger challenges to improve the sector? Is crime the main reason people buy SIM cards and phones?”

Background

The SIM card re-registration exercise in Accra, Ghana, is set to begin soon. The process aims to be efficient and convenient for citizens.

Minister of Communication Hon. Samuel Nartey George announced this during a visit to Margins ID Group in Accra.

Citizens will register their SIM cards online, minimizing physical visits. The system will automatically verify information, speeding up processing times.

This new approach aims to save time and enhance accuracy for users. With June approaching, citizens can expect an easier registration experience.
