IMANI Africa will host a live presentation on May 7, 2025. This event will reveal findings about the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration's first 120 days in office.
The review is based on the NDC’s "120 Days Social Contract." This document outlines key commitments the government promised to fulfill within four months of taking office.
The presentation will assess how well the government has kept these promises. It will also discuss the implications for governance and reform in Ghana.
IMANI notes that Ghana has made some progress under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program. The country has stabilized its economy and addressed governance issues. However, sustained reform needs strong citizen oversight and accountability.
Without this pressure, governments may choose short-term solutions over long-term ones. The upcoming presentation will cover several important areas:
1. An overview of fulfilled commitments from the NDC’s social contract.
2. Identification of urgent structural challenges facing Ghana.
3. Analysis of current policy actions in relation to long-term development needs.
4. Recommendations for enhancing citizen-led advocacy for transparency and reform.
Franklin Cudjoe, IMANI's Founding President and CEO, stated that this exercise aims to deepen democratic accountability and promote structural reform. He thanked IMANI staff and donors for their support, including an African international business executive who is their first donor of the year.
IMANI encourages public participation in this event. They stress the importance of civic engagement to hold the government accountable.
