Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has raised concerns about job creation programs. He specifically questioned initiatives from President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.
During an assessment on Channel One TV's 'The Big Issue', he discussed the first 120 days in office. He mentioned programs like Adwumawura, One Million Coders, and the National Apprenticeship Programme. Cudjoe believes these efforts seem rushed and lack economic productivity.
He warned against launching expensive programs without evaluating their impact. Cudjoe emphasized that job creation must benefit the economy significantly.
He stated, “I critically look at promises like Adwumawura and One Million Coders.” He sees them as opportunities to waste money without proper analysis.
Cudjoe added, “You don’t just create jobs for the sake of it.” Jobs should contribute meaningfully to the economy's value chain.
He expressed concern over spending nearly GH₵200 million on these programs without clear benefits. Cudjoe stressed the need for a connection between job creation and economic productivity.
