IMANI petitions CHRAJ to investigate Jean Mensa-led EC

Franklin Cudjoe is the Executive Director of IMANI Center for Policy and Education. He has asked the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate the Electoral Commission led by Jean Mensa.

IMANI claims that the Electoral Commission violated constitutional, statutory, and administrative laws. They allege this occurred during the sale of electoral equipment. On May 6, 2025, Cudjoe signed a petition stating that the EC mismanaged state assets. This is especially concerning given Ghana’s current economic crisis.

Cudjoe stated, “I directed IMANI to file a petition to CHRAJ.” He called for an investigation into the EC's actions in what he termed a "firesale of electoral equipment for scrap." He emphasized that such behavior cannot be tolerated during a time when Ghana struggles with debt.

IMANI expressed concern about conflicts between the EC's duties and its decisions favoring commercial vendors. They believe these actions undermine transparency and accountability. The organization also suggested potential corruption within the EC.
