IMF report validates NPP’s sound economic management – Sammy Awuku

Sammy Awuku, the MP for Akuapem North, praised Ghana's 5.7% growth rate. He attributes this success to the solid foundation from the previous NPP administration. His comments followed a meeting between the IMF and the Ghanaian government.

Awuku accused the NDC of using flawed statistics in their budget presentation. He claimed they aimed to undermine the NPP administration. He stated, "The aftermath of the 4th review meeting has put to rest false allegations by the NDC."

He noted that the NDC had claimed the economy was struggling. They also said that Ghana breached its IMF program. However, Awuku believes recent numbers tell a different story.

He credited tough decisions made during President Akufo-Addo's leadership for this progress. Awuku highlighted Ghana's economic resilience based on an IMF report. The report showed that Ghana’s economy grew by 5.7% in 2024, exceeding expectations.

He pointed out that mining and construction sectors thrived during this period. Gold exports increased significantly, and remittances improved our external position. Currently, international reserves stand at $8.9 billion, a recent high.

Awuku stressed that these facts show how well the NPP laid groundwork for recovery. He concluded by saying, "While others spin tales of crisis, facts point back to one truth: the NPP will come back better in 2028."
