If I were president I would have fired Sammy Gyamfi – Ken Agyapong boasts

Kennedy Agyapong, a former MP and NPP flagbearer aspirant, made bold claims. He said he would have fired Sammy Gyamfi, the acting CEO of Goldbod, if he were president.

Agyapong criticized nepotism and favoritism in Ghana. He believes these issues are harming the country. He mentioned recent news involving Nana Agradaa and Sammy Gyamfi.

At an event on May 15, 2025, Agyapong stated he wouldn't hesitate to act. "I would have sacked Sammy Gyamfi right away," he said. He felt no investigation was necessary because the evidence was clear.

He expressed concern about young graduates struggling to find jobs. Many must pay to secure good national service placements. Without political connections, they often end up in unsuitable positions.

His comments followed Felix Kwakye Ofosu's statement about Sammy Gyamfi. The Presidential Spokesperson noted that Gyamfi received a caution but faced no further action regarding the Agradaa dollar gift incident.

The presidency accepted Gyamfi’s public apology and closed the matter with a warning. However, the minority in parliament disagreed with this decision.

They have petitioned CHRAJ, OSP, and IGP to investigate allegations against Gyamfi. They raised concerns about his dual role as an NDC official and acting Managing Director of Goldbod.

CHRAJ, OSP, and IGP confirmed receipt of the petition and are evaluating it.
