Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah is a member of the NPP Communications Team. He stated that the NDC must provide Sedinam Christine Attionu Tamaklo. This is so the NPP can provide Ken Ofori-Atta in return.
In April 2024, a High Court issued an arrest warrant for Tamakloe. She was convicted but did not appear in court. She had been allowed to travel abroad for medical reasons.
Gyewu-Appiah said Ken Ofori-Atta will not go to the OSP if Tamakloe remains free. He spoke on Atinka TV, saying they have "hidden" Ofori-Atta away. He added that if the NDC brings Tamakloe, they will exchange her for Ofori-Atta.
He criticized the Special Prosecutor, saying he hasn't won any cases. His comments followed the OSP's rejection of Ofori-Atta’s request for a virtual session. The Special Prosecutor insisted that he must appear in person.
Kissi Agyebeng also mentioned an INTERPOL red notice against Ofori-Atta could be issued. This would allow for international arrest and extradition.
Ernest Owusu-Bempah, Deputy Communications Director of the NPP, echoed similar sentiments. He urged Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine to bring back Tamakloe to serve her sentence. He warned that no NPP member would face prosecution until this happens.
Gyewu-Appiah emphasized again that they are ready to exchange both individuals if necessary.
