Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare, a former Presidential Advisor on Health, has questioned Ghanaians about Ken Ofori-Atta. He asked, “If Ken Ofori-Atta was your relative, would you give him this advice?” His comments follow suggestions for Ofori-Atta to return to Ghana for prostate cancer treatment.
The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, stated he is aware of Ofori-Atta's medical condition. This condition makes him unavailable for a scheduled appearance. However, Agyebeng noted that Ofori-Atta has not provided any medical report to support his claims.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) rejected Ofori-Atta’s request for a virtual session. Agyebeng insisted that he must appear in person at the OSP. He emphasized that they have always required his attendance and will not waive this requirement.
Agyebeng stated, “A suspect does not choose how investigations are conducted.” He also mentioned that he initiated a process for an INTERPOL red notice against Ofori-Atta. This could lead to international arrest and extradition.
He revealed, “About 30 minutes before this brief, I triggered processes for the issuance of an INTERPOL red notice.” The OSP has accused Ofori-Atta of causing financial loss to the state in various dealings. These include issues related to the National Cathedral and contracts with the Ghana Revenue Authority and other entities.
