If Wontumi owed EXIM GHC 10 million, they would have taken him to court – Kwame Nkrumah Tikese

Radio host Kwame Nkrumah Tikese has responded to new accusations against NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako. He is commonly known as Chairman Wontumi. The accusations claim that Wontumi defaulted on a GH¢10 million loan from Eximbank.

This loan was supposedly for a maize farming project. Critics allege he abandoned the project without repayment. However, Tikese challenges this narrative.

He urges critics to consider the structure of such loans. According to him, Eximbank loans for agriculture had strict requirements. Borrowers needed to provide collateral and work with assigned farm managers.

They also had to operate under insured terms to protect the investment. Tikese stated, “It’s not as simple as someone taking money and walking away.”

He added that if Wontumi truly defaulted on such a large loan, there would be legal consequences. So far, no court action or documented effort by Eximbank has been seen.

Tikese believes the lack of lawsuits raises questions about the allegations' authenticity. He calls for a more balanced discussion on this issue.
