Former Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has revealed that the NPP’s electoral prospects were at their lowest in mid-2024, stating that if elections had been held in August, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would have secured only 30% of the vote.

Speaking on Nhyira FM, he attributed the party’s struggles to economic hardships, public dissatisfaction, and weak grassroots mobilisation.

He noted that while conditions improved before the December elections, factors such as corruption perceptions and neglect of the Ashanti Region contributed to the NPP’s defeat.

The party is now assessing feedback from all 16 regions to determine its future direction, including whether Dr. Bawumia remains its leader.
