Television personality Nana Aba Anamoah has challenged President John Mahama’s directive barring government appointees from flying first class, arguing it won’t significantly cut costs.
She explained that Emirates is the only airline offering first-class services in Ghana, while most appointees already travel business class, which remains expensive.
Instead, she suggests they fly premium economy to achieve real cost savings.
Anamoah also pointed out that heads of missions from countries like Switzerland and the UK travel economy, questioning why Ghanaian officials should get special treatment.
Mahama’s directive requires all official trips to be approved by the Chief of Staff and taken in modesty, as part of broader cost-cutting measures.
