Illegal miners arrested at Nimiri-Samreboi, Subri Forest

The Ghana Police Service has arrested 10 illegal miners. This occurred during a special operation at Tano Nimiri Forest. The forest is located near Samreboi in the Western Region.

A press release confirmed the arrests and noted that some suspects were women.

The police found 11 excavators and one bulldozer at the site. These machines have been impounded for safekeeping.

In a related operation, police arrested 29 more suspects. This group included 21 Ghanaians and eight Chinese nationals. The arrests took place in Subri forest and along the Tano River.
