Ghana Immigration Service Cracks Down on Beggar Street Kids in Abossey Okai
On May 16, 2025, the Ghana Immigration Service conducted a special operation. This took place in Kaneshie and Abossey Okai. The goal was to remove foreign beggar children and their guardians from the streets.
The operation started early in the morning. It responded to concerns about non-Ghanaian street kids in Accra. Officers rounded up many foreign women with children using immigration vehicles.
During the operation, officers engaged with individuals on the streets. They escorted them away from sidewalks and busy intersections where they begged.
This initiative is part of a nationwide effort. It aims to decongest the streets and enhance public safety. Additionally, it seeks to protect vulnerable children and identify illegal residents in the country.
