In Cape Coast, we cannot point to factories like in Accra or Kumasi – MCE laments

The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Cape Coast, Mr. George Justice Arthur, is worried about the lack of factories in the city. He sees this as a major challenge for the ancient capital.

In an interview with Amansan Krakye on Property FM, Mr. Arthur compared Cape Coast to cities like Accra, Tema, and Kumasi. These cities have many manufacturing companies that produce goods such as biscuits, cement, and beverages.

Mr. Arthur pointed out that Cape Coast does not have similar industries. This absence limits job opportunities for the growing youth population.

He said, “One of the biggest problems I face as Chief Executive is the lack of industries to employ the youth.” He added that Cape Coast cannot boast factories like those in Accra or Tema.

Mr. Arthur expressed disappointment over Amin Sangari, a soap-producing company in Cape Coast. He mentioned that it has collapsed and may be converted into a church soon. “They’re joking,” he said in frustration about this situation.
