Inadequate cable ladders hindered immediate response to Adum fire - GNFS

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has identified a significant challenge in their response to a recent fire incident at the GCB Bank in Accra. Officials revealed that the lack of adequate cable ladders hampered their ability to respond swiftly and effectively. Firefighters arrived on the scene but faced difficulties accessing the upper floors of the building due to insufficient equipment.

The GNFS emphasized that while they were able to control the blaze, having more cable ladders would have allowed them to reach higher levels quicker and potentially reduce damage. The fire was eventually extinguished without any reported injuries, but it highlighted existing gaps in resources that could impact future emergency responses.

In light of this incident, GNFS officials are calling for improved funding and support to equip firefighters with necessary tools. They stressed the importance of modern equipment for enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring public safety during emergencies, underscoring a need for strategic investment in firefighting resources across the country.
