Increasing cases of unethical practices by lawyers worrying – Chief Justice

Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has expressed concern over rising complaints of unethical practices by lawyers.

Speaking at the 2024/2025 Ghana Bar Association conference, she criticized the view that law is a quick path to wealth, which has led to client exploitation.

She noted that the General Legal Council is addressing the issue by working with law faculties to strengthen the teaching of ethics.

She urged lawyers to focus on justice and ethical conduct rather than seeing the profession as a way to get rich quickly.
