Kofi Asare, Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, has called for a 20% national budget allocation to education following Haruna Iddrisu’s nomination as Minister-designate for Education.
Speaking on Eyewitness News, Asare stressed the need for increased funding to address critical challenges and fulfill the NDC’s 140 education promises.
He highlighted that aligning with UNESCO’s recommendation of allocating 15-20% of national expenditure to education would ensure impactful policy implementation.
Asare also proposed an education conference to promote collaboration among educators, policymakers, and civil society.
This, he said, would foster dialogue and strategies to tackle Ghana’s education challenges and achieve sustainable goals.
