The Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, urged insurance companies to create new insurance packages for farmers. These packages should protect farmers from losses and help increase food production.
He emphasized the need for products that cover risks like drought, pests, and heavy rainfall.
Dr. Forson made this appeal during the closing of the first Sustainability Insurance Conference in Accra yesterday. He highlighted the urgent need for climate-sensitive insurance due to climate change's impact on agriculture and hydro power generation.
Farmers frequently face losses from drought or excessive rainfall caused by climate change.
