She highlighted industry pioneer Kwesi Essel Koomson as an example for graduates. His vision and persistence shaped Ghana's brokerage industry.
While congratulating the graduates, she reminded them that success requires ongoing effort. “Hard work demands more hard work,” she stated. “There is more hard work ahead.”
Dr. Zakariah stressed the importance of technology in insurance today. She encouraged graduates to embrace technological advancements.
She announced a new initiative between the National Insurance Commission (NIC) and GIC. They will establish practical training centers at the University of Ghana for students.
These centers will focus on insurance product design using technology to meet market needs.
In her closing remarks, she quoted Maya Angelou: “Do your best until you know better; then do better.”
Graduates received Diplomas in Applied Insurance Studies and Advanced Diplomas in Insurance for completing their studies.
The Ghana Insurance College was established in 2006 to enhance governance and professionalism in insurance. It supports the Insurance Institute of Ghana's goal for full autonomy in certifying professionals.
Since its founding, the College has trained thousands who contribute significantly to Ghana’s insurance industry growth.
