Godfred Yeboah Dame is the former Attorney General. He represents suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo. He strongly defends her character, calling her a woman of integrity.
In an interview with Channel One TV on May 22, Mr. Dame dismissed any wrongdoing allegations against her. He emphasized that integrity defines Gertrude Torkornoo’s career.
“If there is anything this Chief Justice has stood for, it is her integrity,” he stated. He expressed confusion over attempts to damage her reputation. Those who know her record can confirm her commitment to ethical standards.
Currently, the Chief Justice faces a constitutional process that may lead to her removal from office. This follows a preliminary finding by the President and Council of State. They established a presidential committee to investigate petitions against her.
In response, Torkornoo filed a motion in the Supreme Court. She seeks an injunction to suspend the committee’s proceedings. Additionally, she requests two Supreme Court justices be barred from participating due to concerns about fairness and impartiality.
