Inter Milan defeat Barcelona by equalling Champions League semifinal record

Inter Milan's Davide Frattesi scored an extra-time winner. This goal led his team to a thrilling 4-3 victory over Barcelona. The win secured Inter's place in the Champions League final. Francesco Acerbi had earlier equalized deep in added time.

Frattesi’s goal and goalkeeper Yann Sommer’s saves helped Inter. They achieved a record-equalling 7-6 aggregate victory in the semifinal. Inter will face either Paris St Germain or Arsenal later this month.

The match featured two distinct halves. Inter dominated the first half, leading by two goals. Lautaro Martinez scored on a counterattack in the 21st minute. Hakan Calhanoglu then extended the lead with a penalty just before halftime.

Barcelona responded strongly in the second half. Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo scored within six minutes to equalize. Despite Sommer's impressive saves, Raphinha nearly won it for Barcelona in the 87th minute.

In a desperate attempt for an equalizer, Denzel Dumfries assisted Acerbi. The 37-year-old scored his first European goal after 20 seasons, sending the game into extra time.

In the 99th minute, Marcus Thuram set up Frattesi for a shot. Frattesi curled it into the bottom corner, igniting celebrations among fans. Sommer made two crucial saves from teenager Lamine Yamal to secure victory.

Inter aims for their fourth Champions League title this year. They last won it 15 years ago, losing to Manchester City two years ago in the final.

“I’m lucky to have finished the game,” Frattesi said after scoring. He thanked physiotherapists who helped him recover recently and expressed disbelief at their incredible win.

Barcelona was chasing a treble after winning Copa del Rey against Real Madrid. Now they must focus on LaLiga as they host their rivals on Sunday, leading by four points.
