Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has praised the Ghana Police Service (GPS) for ensuring a free, fair, and transparent electoral process before, during, and after the December 7 elections.
Speaking during a courtesy call on Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare in Accra, Muntaka lauded the security measures implemented and urged officers to maintain their objectivity.
He reaffirmed the NDC government’s commitment to security sector reforms, including insulating the GPS from political interference, enhancing infrastructure, and improving personnel welfare.
Key initiatives include modernizing police operations with advanced technology, expanding police hospitals, and increasing UN/AU peacekeeping participation.
IGP Dampare urged officers to uphold democratic values and remain impartial in their duties.
