The Minister for the Interior, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, inaugurated a new board on Thursday. This 10-member board will govern the National Identification Authority (NIA).
The NIA's goal is to create a reliable and secure national identity system for all Ghanaians. Mr. Moses Afetsi Positive, a businessman, will chair the board.
Other members include Wisdom Kwaku Deku, Executive Secretary of NIA. Dr. Gifty Seiwaa Nyarko is Vice Principal at SDA College of Education Asokore-Koforidua.
Eric Coffie and Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu from Ghana Statistical Service are also members. Mr. Kwesi Afreh Biney is Director General of SSNIT.
Additional members are Dr. Senanu Kwesi Djokoto from NHIA and Samuel Adom Botchway from the Birth and Death Registry. Mrs. Rosemary Addo Parker represents the Ghana Revenue Authority Customs Division.
Philip Peter Andoh is Acting Deputy Comptroller of GIS Legal Directorate. During the inauguration, the minister emphasized Ghana’s commitment to this identity system for its citizens.
