Interior Minister supports Prisons Service with food items

In a recent initiative to bolster the welfare of inmates, Ghana's Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery, has provided substantial support to the Ghana Prisons Service. During a visit to the Kumasi Central Prison, he presented a significant donation of food items aimed at enhancing the nutritional well-being of prisoners. This gesture is part of a broader commitment by the government to improve conditions within correctional facilities across the country.

Dery emphasized that adequate nutrition is vital for rehabilitation and reintegration into society. He highlighted the need for continuous support for prisons, advocating for collaborations with non-governmental organizations and private entities to further enhance inmate welfare. The minister also noted that these efforts are essential in promoting human dignity and fostering successful rehabilitation outcomes.

The donation reflects ongoing reforms within Ghana's prison system aimed at addressing overcrowding and improving living conditions. As part of this initiative, Dery urged stakeholders to engage more actively in supporting initiatives that benefit both inmates and staff, ultimately contributing to a more humane correctional environment.
