Investigate National Cathedral Project or risk public disappointment – Dormaahene urges Mahama

Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Nana Freduah Agyemang Badu II, the Dormaahene and President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, has called for an investigation into the National Cathedral project.

He spoke during President John Dramani Mahama’s ‘Thank You’ tour on May 30. The chief expressed concern about the project's financial transparency. He highlighted that $58 million has reportedly been spent on its development.

“Don’t fear anyone in your pursuit of justice,” he urged Mahama. He emphasized that failing to act would not be beneficial.

The Dormaahene admitted he might not know all details about the cathedral. However, he noted that public concern warrants an impartial investigation.

“Whether it involves a pastor or a chief, it must be investigated,” he stated. He cautioned Mahama against underestimating the issue's importance.

Ignoring this matter could erode public trust, he warned. “If you ignore it, Ghanaians will be disappointed in you,” he said.

The National Cathedral project has faced intense scrutiny recently. Many question the justification for such large spending amid ongoing economic challenges.
