Irate NDC supporters storm Mampong office, burn items

Supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Asante Mampong protested on April 10. They stormed the party’s office, vandalizing property and setting items on fire. The youth were upset about a rumored nomination for Municipal Chief Executive. They claimed Esther Dwomoh was nominated, but there was no official announcement.

The protesters insisted that three individuals should be considered instead. These individuals are Yakubu Yakubu, the 2024 Parliamentary Candidate, Mohammed Kamil, the current Constituency Chairman, and Imoro Iddrisu. They demanded that one of them be nominated.

Police officers arrived at the scene but made no arrests. Firefighters were also called to extinguish the flames from the vandalism. Kwaku Bernasko, the NDC Communications Officer for Asante Mampong, confirmed the incident.

He explained that a group of youth was agitated over rumors regarding Esther Dwomoh's nomination. They expressed their displeasure to party executives present at the office. Bernasko noted that they could not control the crowd as party property was damaged and set ablaze outside.
