It's official: Mahama abolishes e-levy, other Akufo-Addo-era nuisance taxes

**E-Levy and Betting Tax Officially Abolished: Mahama Signs New Bill**

President John Dramani Mahama has signed bills to abolish several taxes. This includes the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), Betting Tax, and Emissions Tax.

This action supports the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) goal to ease financial burdens on Ghanaians.

On March 13, 2025, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson presented eight bills to Parliament. These bills aim to repeal and amend various taxes and levies.

Key bills include the Electronic Transfer Levy (Repeal) Bill, 2025, and the Emissions Levy (Repeal) Bill, 2025. Other important bills are the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the Earmarked Funds Capping and Realignment (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
