Malik Basintale Vows to Change Zoomlion Workers' Pay
Malik Basintale, CEO of the Youth Employment Agency, has made a promise. He will not allow Zoomlion Ghana Limited to continue paying workers GH¢250. He criticized the previous government's contract terms as unfair.
Basintale expressed his concerns online after public pressure grew. He condemned the Akufo-Addo administration for maintaining these low wages. "For 7 years and 9 months, the NPP renewed this contract," he stated.
He emphasized that every worker deserves fair pay for their work. Basintale vowed not to renew the contract in its current form. "It is evil for the previous government to have committed to this," he said.
The call for change was fueled by investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni. He has campaigned against renewing the contract due to poor treatment of workers.
Basintale concluded by saying that if his family were affected, he would be unhappy with such low wages. "I can't be happy with you or your family receiving GH¢250," he added.
