Franklin Cudjoe is the President of IMANI Africa, a policy think tank. He has commented on Godfred Dame representing suspended Chief Justice Torkornoo.
Cudjoe believes this is not a smart decision. He posted on X, saying it’s unwise for the Chief Justice to choose a partisan former Attorney General.
His remarks follow the Chief Justice's lawsuit at the Supreme Court. She aims to stop a five-member committee investigating her removal.
On May 21, 2025, she requested an injunction to halt all proceedings. She also wants two justices removed from the panel and her suspension quashed.
Godfred Yeboah Dame responded by stating that good men must stand up for what is right. He claims his representation of Torkornoo does not indicate NPP alignment.
Dame insists he has always defended the judiciary throughout his career. Speaking on JOY FM, he emphasized the need for righteousness in Ghana.
He stated that misleading the public must be corrected. Dame believes his actions align with his commitment since becoming Attorney General.
He argues that there is an unwarranted attack on the judiciary by the NDC government. This effort aims to reshape it according to their desires.
Cudjoe's post reads: “It is not a smart idea for the beleaguered Chief Justice to ask the rabidly partisan former AG and last regime’s chief persecutor to represent her in her travails in court.”
