JM Lauds Pioneering Role Of Margins ID Group In Ghana’s Digital Space

Moses Kwesi Baiden Recognized for Transforming Ghana’s Digital Identity

Moses Kwesi Baiden Jr., CEO of Margins ID Group, has received recognition for his role in reshaping Ghana's digital identity through the Ghana Card.

At the 9th Ghana CEO Summit in Accra, President Mahama praised the card. He noted that it is more than just an ID; it supports a competitive economy.

Mahama mentioned that other African countries, like the Democratic Republic of Congo, want to replicate this model. He shared a recent request from DR Congo about Moses and the Ghana Card system.

The President highlighted innovations such as reintroducing road tolls linked to the Ghana Card. Vehicles are now connected to their owners' cards, simplifying payments.

Moses Baiden explained how the Ghana Card integrates with key government systems like DVLA. Users can conduct biometric verification quickly, updating data in milliseconds.

He emphasized that vehicle ownership is now easily verifiable. This means driving licenses are connected to real IDs for better enforcement.

Baiden described the Ghana Card as an "infrastructure of trust" for governance and economic growth. Citizens can access services anytime by proving their identity digitally.

In healthcare, babies receive national ID numbers at birth. The National Health Insurance Authority can now reduce fraud and improve planning.

Medical records will be stored securely in the cloud for emergencies. This transformation also enhances national security by allowing instant tracking of suspects.

Baiden stressed public-private partnerships since 2012 have built a robust identity infrastructure in Ghana. He called for digital sovereignty and innovation within Africa.

He received two awards: “CEO of the Year – Technology” and “CEO of the Year – ICT Sector.”

Ghana Card: A Foundation for National Development

Moses Kwesi Baiden Jr. stated that the Ghana Card is not just plastic but vital for national development.

Speaking at ID4Africa 2025 Summit, he highlighted its impact on healthcare and governance. The card serves as a digital backbone for various sectors.

Margins ID Group was one of only two African companies featured at this summit. They successfully implemented a large-scale national identity system.

Baiden revealed significant savings from using the Ghana Card instead of separate health insurance cards. Its ability to authenticate identities has reduced fraudulent claims significantly.

The card covers every citizen and integrates with public and private institutions seamlessly. Over 98% of adults in Ghana are registered, with efforts ongoing to enroll children.

Ghana has processed over 200 million biometric verifications, making it one of Africa's most successful projects globally.

With this success, initiatives like e-health and home-based care services are being rolled out across Ghana.

Baiden emphasized that a single legal identity system is crucial for digital transformation in Africa's future economies.

He urged ID4Africa to promote more African-developed technologies globally, asserting innovation should come from everywhere—not just Western nations.

Margins ID Group evolved from a printing company into a leader in secure identity systems through local expertise and strategic investment partnerships with NIA.

As Africa aims for universal legal identity by 2030, Ghana offers a blueprint rather than merely participating in this goal.

In closing his keynote speech, Baiden reminded attendees that successful ID systems must serve society effectively while delivering lasting solutions.
