Legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has intensified calls for transparency in Ghana’s justice system following shocking revelations in the leaked tape involving Richard Jakpa and former Attorney-General Godfred Dame.

Speaking on TV3 on February 1, Kpebu pointed to Dame’s recorded admission of pressure from then-President Akufo-Addo and the Finance Minister to prosecute Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and Jakpa at all costs.

He condemned the blatant political interference in prosecutions, arguing that justice must not be weaponized for partisan gains.

Kpebu also criticized the Attorney-General’s ability to drop cases without explanation, demanding legislative reforms to ensure accountability.

Citing the prolonged detention of Gregory Afoko despite a failed conviction, he described such cases as human rights abuses.

Kpebu urged Ghana to adopt stricter legal transparency measures like those in South Africa.
