Theophilus Dzimega Jnr. Esq., a member of the NDC Communications Team, addressed misconceptions about Jakpa's legal situation. He stated that Jakpa was released, not dismissed.
In an interview on GHOne TV, Dzimega criticized past handling of similar cases. He argued that court rulings should not be used for political gain.
He noted the inconsistency in court decisions. "The high court said A, but the court of appeal disagreed," he explained. In some places, judges allow individuals to leave court without stigma.
Dzimega compared Jakpa’s case to that of a former finance minister. He insisted that a court ruling shouldn't disqualify someone from their position.
"It's like saying someone is unfit for office because of a ruling," he said. "They can still walk away cleanly from the court."
He reiterated his point about Jakpa’s status. "In the Army, Jakpa was released. That is it; he wasn’t dismissed," Dzimega emphasized.
