Jane Opoku-Agyemang in good health - Gov't assures

The Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has reassured Ghanaians. He confirmed that Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is in good health.

This update comes amid public concern about her condition. She was flown to the UK for medical treatment.

On April 24, President John Mahama also reassured citizens. He stated that the Vice President was "recuperating well and in high spirits."

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu spoke on Joy FM on May 5. He emphasized that she remains healthy at a UK facility.

He said, "As and when doctors think she is okay to come, they will give the green light." He added, “I know for a fact that she is well.”

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang fell ill suddenly on March 28, 2025. She sought medical attention at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) the next day.

The government noted that experts advised her to seek further treatment abroad. This was a precautionary measure for her full recovery.

Following this advice, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang began a three-week medical leave on April 7, 2025. Her health and well-being are her top priorities.
