Jean Mensa’s exit key to party’s reset Agenda – Asiedu Nketia

Johnson Asiedu Nketia is the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He has strong opinions about the Electoral Commission’s (EC) leadership. This follows the NDC's victory in the 2024 general elections.

In an interview on Radio Gold, he called for the removal of EC officials. He stated that winning does not excuse past actions by the Commission.

“I started discussions about removing high-ranking officers at state institutions,” he said. This includes positions at the Auditor General and the Electoral Commission.

He criticized EC Chairperson Mrs. Jean Mensa and demanded her dismissal. “Winning does not make Mrs. Jean Mensa an angel,” he added. He believes she should be removed along with her entire leadership team.

Mrs. Jean Mensa has chaired the EC since 2018. She is a barrister and respected figure in Ghana’s democracy. Her two deputies are Dr. Bossman Eric Asare and Mr. Samuel Tettey.

Despite their electoral success, Mr. Asiedu Nketia is pushing for a “reset agenda.” This agenda aims for significant changes across key institutions, starting with the EC.

His call raises questions about Ghana’s electoral leadership future. It also hints at the political direction the NDC plans to take as they govern.
