Jewelry returned to Manhyia Palace, still claimed as stolen - Lawyer tells Cecilia Dapaah

Lawyers for one of the accused in a criminal trial have made strong claims. They suggested to Madam Cecilia Dapaah that her stolen jewelry belonged to Otumfuor Osei Tutu I's wife. They said the jewelry was returned to Manhyia palace after pressure from Pankronu residents.

On March 12, Madam Cecilia Dapaah testified in court. She stated that her personal jewelry, including diamond and gold pieces, were stolen from her storage room in 2023.

In court on Monday, Augustine Gyamfi represented the second accused, Sarah Adjei. He suggested that Madam Dapaah's late brother held onto the jewelry before passing it to her.

During her first testimony, she mentioned some valuables had been kept for thirty-five years. When asked about the lawyer's claim, she called it "news."

"My Lord this has never happened; this is news to me," she said. She added that she does not have CCTV cameras at her residence.

When approached by JoyNews Legal Affairs Correspondent for comments, Madam Cecilia hesitated initially. She then said, "I answered it in court," before walking away with her husband.
