Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to prosecuting individuals involved in the disappearance of over 1,300 shipping containers of ECG equipment.
During an inspection of warehouses in Shai Hills and Kpone, Jinapor revealed that ECG cables were being smelted for export. He declared that the syndicate responsible, which has operated since 2019, will be dismantled.
Jinapor condemned procurement breaches, highlighting that ECG’s spending exceeded approved budgets by over 700%. So far, 14 arrests, including 10 Chinese nationals, have been made, with investigations ongoing.
