Former Railway Development Minister Joe Ghartey has been invited by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) for questioning over the stalled Ghana Sky Train project.
Ghartey, who led the ministry from 2017 to 2021, is being probed as part of ongoing investigations into the project’s financial dealings and feasibility.
The $3 billion initiative, announced in 2018 to ease urban traffic, failed to materialize despite Ghana signing a concession agreement in 2019.
A 2022 Auditor-General’s report flagged a $2 million investment by the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) that yielded no returns.
Ghartey’s summons follows earlier interrogations of key officials.
While the former minister has not commented, authorities continue scrutinizing financial transactions related to the project.
